Work on first Windows Phone 7 devices has began – Nokia CEO

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has said that the work on first Windows Phone 7 powered Nokia phones has began. Nokia and Microsoft announced the strategic partnership last month, when Nokia officially announced that it will be using Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 software as its primary operating system for smartphones.

Stephen Elop said in an interview to Rueters

“We’re right now, today, having people work on the first Windows Phone devices from Nokia. That work is already under way. If this was an acquisition scenario, that wouldn’t be possible,”

He said that he has no plans of changing Nokia’s top management. He also said that Microsoft has no plans of trying for the acquisition of Nokia.
